Pressure Ulcer

Presure ulcer

The friction or pressure exerted on the underside of the foot can cause skin thickening and callus formation. If the skin continues to thicken, the callus enters the foot by applying pressure. The tissues die and the pain settles. When healthy skin dies, an ulcer forms. The ulcers are formed from hot spots and can quickly become infected wounds. A callus on the foot support can cause the death of the tissue and result in an ulcer.

"Hot", red, points reflect the existence of pressure or friction. They warn you that you must treat your feet. If the pressure is not removed, a hot spot is likely to become a light bulb. If it is not treated, the bulb is transformed in turn into open wounds or horn (skin thickening on top of the foot) or callus. When a callus or horn enters the foot by applying pressure, it destroys the inner layers of the skin. Cracks and sores form. These open wounds are ulcers. They open the door of the body to infection. In some cases, the dead skin (callus or horn) can cover an open wound and make it harder to see. If bacteria enters the ulcer infection begins. The tissues then continue to die. The liquid flows may be white, yellow or green. Some ulcers bleed or make you feel bad. If you think you have an infected ulcer, call your doctor immediately.
